North Lincolnshire Council are in the running for a raft of top national awards

The Fostering Team, Charlotte Spain and North Lincolnshire Council as an organisation have all been shortlisted for a prestigious award in recognition of their extraordinary practice in the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2023.

North Lincolnshire Council have been selected as a finalist for Supportive Social Work Employer Award.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council said: “Enabling and supporting people is something that we do so very well here in North Lincolnshire.

“It is fantastic for our organisation and workforce to be recognised on a national level and highlights our strong commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for everyone in North Lincolnshire.

“I would like to wish everyone nominated the best of the luck at the awards ceremony.”

The Social Worker Awards recognises the inspirational, creative, compassionate, and outstanding practice of individuals and organisations and is the only major national awards event for social work in England.

North Lincolnshire Council Fostering Team have been announced as a finalist for Team of the Year, Children’s Services (including MDTS) Award.

Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children, families and communities said: “I am delighted to hear that our Fostering Team have been shortlisted for such a prestigious award.

“They are all shining stars who go above and beyond for our children and families and deserve to be recognised on a national scale for their hard work and commitment.”

The awards are open to qualified practitioners throughout England with a range of individual and team categories for those working in both children’s and adult departments.

There are 18 categories in total with North Lincolnshire Council being in the running for the number one spot in three of them.

Charlotte Spain has been selected as a finalist for Adult Social Worker of the Year Award.

Cllr Richard Hannigan, cabinet member for adults and health said: “Congratulations Charlotte on being selected as a finalist at the Social Worker of the Year Awards.

“Charlotte has been part of North Lincolnshire Council for several years and is a very dedicated and caring individual who strives for the best possible outcomes for each vulnerable person she supports.

“She is an excellent role model and a very valued member of the North Lincolnshire team.”

The finalists are invited to attend the special awards ceremony taking place in London on Friday 3 November 2023, where they will find out if they have been crowned the overall winners of each award.

Peter Hay CBE, Chair of the Social Work Awards, said: “This year we received the most entries ever which goes to show organisations and individuals are keen to shine a light on the inspirational achievements of an often-overlooked profession.

“We would like to thank all those who took the time to nominate a friend, colleague, or team for an award this year. To our finalists, we’d like to say congratulations! Being nominated for a national award, whilst supporting others during very challenging times, is a remarkable achievement of which you should be very proud.”
