On Monday 13 January, North Lincolnshire Armed Forces Hub in Scunthorpe is celebrating its two year-anniversary and is inviting everyone to join in the celebrations from 9am.

Pop in and meet the armed forces community and staff to see what the hub offers.

It will be a day of celebration and a chance to see the progress of the hub over the past two years, find out what it offers, how the team works with the community and other organisations.

Cllr Elaine Marper, Armed Forces Champion said: “Since North Lincolnshire Armed Forces Hub opened its doors two years ago, it has come a long way with building its relationships with the armed forces community. With many armed forces personnel visiting for information and guidance or just to have a cuppa and a chat.

“It is brilliant to be able to have this celebration to look back on all that has been achieved and focus on what else is to come.

“Whether you are part of the armed forces community or just wanted to show your support, please join us in celebrating the hub’s two-year anniversary.”

The day will start with a birthday celebration for Howard, one of North Lincolnshire’s surviving national service veterans. Howard attends the hub every day and Monday 13 January happens to be his birthday – but not just any birthday, his 90th birthday.

Sadly, Howard lost his service medals some years ago and this is the perfect opportunity to do something special for him and acknowledge his service to our country.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council said: “I am a strong advocate for the Armed Forces community and will continue to ensure they are recognised for their dedication to their country.

“By working in partnership, the hub offers a variety of support and connections for the armed forces community, including children and families and is tailored to deliver what is needed.

“The hub has grown from strength to strength over the last couple of years and I would like to extend a big thank you to all those involved.”

Refreshments and cakes will be served throughout the day until 5pm at the hub located at 186 High Street, Scunthorpe.

For anyone wishing to be at Howard’s special birthday presentation, please arrive by 10am.
