Residents and visitors have a new and exciting way to explore Jubilee Park with the launch of specially designed walking maps.
Developed in partnership with the Friends of Jubilee Park group, the initiative aims to encourage outdoor activity, highlight the park’s beautiful green spaces, and provide hours of play time in areas both old and new.
Cllr Christine Patterson, cabinet member for healthy lives and places, said: “Supporting initiatives that promote health and well-being is a top priority, and I’m delighted to see these new walking routes made available for residents.
“Funded by the Public Health Fund as part of the Year of Walking campaign, these accessible routes ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy the benefits of walking.
“With fully accessible pavement options and longer trails that wind through Jubilee Park, residents have a fantastic opportunity to embrace physical activity right on their doorstep, including through the Daily Mile initiative.”
Plans are already in motion to expand the project to Central Park in the coming weeks, where a new map will guide walkers through 1km, 2km, and 5km routes, taking them through Brumby Wood and beyond.
Cllr David Rose, cabinet member for environment and strategy, added: “Our parks and green spaces are invaluable assets to our community, providing not only environmental benefits but also opportunities for relaxation and recreation.
“These new walking routes in Jubilee Park make it easier for residents to engage with nature, improve their well-being, and enjoy the beauty of their local surroundings. By embracing walking as part of daily life, we not only support healthier lifestyles but also contribute to the conservation of our natural spaces.
“I encourage everyone to explore these routes and discover the many benefits of walking in our wonderful parks.”
