Good news for bus users in Broughton – a brand-new bus shelter is on the way, giving people a safe, dry and more comfortable place to wait for their bus.
The £3,200 project – backed by North Lincolnshire Council’s Community Grant Fund – is a small change that will make a big difference to people’s daily journeys.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Residents told us this mattered to them – somewhere safe and sheltered while waiting for the bus – and we’ve listened. This is about delivering what matters to local people, making everyday life a little easier and more comfortable.”
The new shelter will replace the existing one on George Street.
Cllr Waltham added: “From bus shelters to sports pitches, village halls to youth clubs, the Community Grant Fund is backing the projects that people care about most. These are the things that make communities stronger, more vibrant and better connected.”
Since launching in 2011, the fund has supported hundreds of projects across North Lincolnshire – investing in the spaces, activities and facilities that residents say make the biggest difference.
Grants are available for junior and youth groups, charitable bodies, co-operatives, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals demonstrating excellence in sport, art, or culture. Support is also available for venue hire, helping to keep community spaces open and active.
