Winter is approaching and the council’s fleet of gritting lorries is gearing up for its regular patrols keeping North Lincolnshire’s roads safe.
But this year will be different – to keep our drivers smiling on long, cold nights the gritting lorries will all have names, suggested by and voted on by the public.
The council wants suggestions of names for our 10 gritting lorries and anything goes – as long as they are fun, original – and clean.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Our gritter drivers work long, unsociable hours, often going out at a moment’s notice to keep our roads safe.
“We’re expecting a flurry of imaginative names for their lorries. Suggestions already include Gritty McGritface, Jake Gritenden, and Snowcially Distanced.
“If you think you can do better then fill in the form on our website.”
