Grassroots teams and local sporting groups in Messingham are now benefiting from new, modern changing facilities following major investment from North Lincolnshire Council.

Messingham Parish Council received £126,000 through the council’s community grant scheme to support the construction of new changing rooms at Messingham Parish Pavilion, located on the recreation field on Holme Lane.

The project was also backed by £30,000 from the SSE Sustainable Development Fund and a further £19,866 from parish council funds. This brings the total investment to more than £175,000.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “We are investing in communities across North Lincolnshire, supporting the local projects that matter most to residents. These new changing facilities will help grow grassroots sport and ensure local teams have the space and infrastructure they need to thrive.”

The new pavilion provides improved, purpose-built changing spaces for local football and sports clubs using the recreation field.

Cllr Neil Poole, ward councillor for Messingham, added: “This is a fantastic development for the village. Having high-quality facilities encourages more people to take part in local sport and strengthens the role the recreation field plays in community life. It’s great to see the parish council, local partners and the council working together to deliver it.”

The funding has come from North Lincolnshire Council’s Community Grant Scheme, which backs local groups and projects that help communities thrive. To find out more about the scheme, including how to apply, visit the North Lincolnshire Council website.

Since its enhancement in 2011, North Lincolnshire Council’s Community Grant Fund has channelled millions of pounds into community-led projects. From youth groups and charities to town and parish councils, hundreds of initiatives have benefited – each one a testament to the resilience and creativity of local residents.

Grants are available for junior and youth groups, charitable bodies, co-operatives, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals demonstrating excellence in sport, art, or culture.
