Two exciting community projects in Messingham are set to benefit from a combined £26,750 investment, secured through North Lincolnshire Council.

The funding will support improvements to Holme Meadow Recreation Field and the Messingham Show Field, enhancing accessibility and promoting health and wellbeing for residents of all ages.

Funded projects include:
Messingham Recreation Field – £11,000 for outdoor gym equipment.

Messingham Parish Council will install an eight-station outdoor gym designed for teenagers and adults. The project aims to promote healthy lifestyles and provide accessible exercise options, especially in response to local health data showing high levels of teenage obesity.

Messingham Show Field – £15,750 for a hard standing access path and gate.

This project will improve access to the historic showground, which has hosted events since 1825. The new path and gate will make the site more accessible for wheelchair users and those with mobility scooters, ensuring safe entry even during wet conditions. The field is also used by local football teams and pony clubs.

Cllr Neil Poole, deputy leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “These projects will have a lasting impact on the Messingham community. The new gym equipment will encourage healthier lifestyles, and the improved access to the show field means more people can enjoy this fantastic space. It’s great to see local needs being met through targeted investment.”

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, added: “We promised to support communities across North Lincolnshire – and this is us delivering on that promise. Through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we’re investing in projects that matter to local people and help build stronger, healthier, and more inclusive communities.”

Funding is made available through North Lincolnshire Council’s management of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
