This Stoptober, North Lincolnshire Council is inviting local people to take the first step towards a healthier, smoke-free life. Whether they have tried to quit before or this is their first attempt, support is available to help individuals succeed.
The council are working in partnership with local Scunthorpe retailer, Liquid Mist, to launch a new ‘Swap to Stop’ initiative and have 3,500 free vape starter kits to help residents quit smoking for good.
Cllr Christine Patterson, cabinet member for healthy lives and places, said: “We are committed to supporting residents to live healthier, longer lives.
“The Swap to Stop initiative is a fantastic opportunity for people in North Lincolnshire to take that first step towards quitting smoking for good. By providing free, practical support and resources, we’re making it easier than ever for people to make a positive change.”
This offer is available for anyone 18 or over and living in North Lincolnshire. Anyone wanting to quit can simply apply online via our website for their free kit.
They will get everything they need to start their 30-day quit journey, including: a vape starter kit, e-liquids, and a quick start guide – delivered straight to their door.
After 30 days, participants can share their progress to receive a refill pack and continue their journey.
This is what residents who have been supported to stop smoking by North Lincolnshire Council’s Healthy Lifestyles Team have said about the support available.
Viv said: “This service is brilliant and because of that I am now smoke free.”
Victoria said: “I wouldn’t have done this on my own. The meetings made me accountable, and a regular weekly check-in gave me strength to know that I wasn’t alone in my experience and worries.”
Vaping is proven to be much less harmful than smoking and is one of the most effective ways to quit. This initiative is designed for real people and is free. It provides support, encouragement, and practical tools to help anyone quitting to stay on track.
Della added: “I would not have been able to do this without the support from the facilitator.”
Stoptober is the UK’s biggest quit smoking campaign, and it’s helped millions of people to stop. Did you know that if an individual quits for 28 days, they are five times more likely to quit for good?
Alongside the Swap to Stop initiative, people looking to kick the habit for good this Stoptober can access local support from North Lincolnshire Council’s Healthy Lifestyles Team.
