Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has signed up to North Lincolnshire Council’s Fostering Friendly Scheme, supporting and championing fostering in the community.
The fostering team are thrilled to have them on board after working together for a number of years already, as Corporate Parents in North Lincolnshire.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has HR policies that support employees who are fostering or wish to foster. After working with the fostering team on various events in 2024, it was a natural progression for the Service to sign up and pledge support to the scheme.
Last year saw Humberside Fire and Rescue Service offer a bespoke evening for some of our young people to attend with the fire cadets, they walked alongside the fostering team at their Twilight Walk for Foster Care Fortnight and put on an interactive session whereby members of the fostering team were able to try their hand at hose drills at the station as part of their annual team day.
Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children, families, and communities, said: “I’m proud to see that Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is continuing to champion all of our children in North Lincolnshire and specifically some of the most vulnerable by being fostering friendly alongside us.
“Having already supported our children in care for a number of years, they are actively backing fostering and being fostering friendly in the community and I’m keen and excited to see what the teams work together on throughout 2025.”
Sarah Wilkinson, Head of Prevention of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We are proud to be part of a growing community of organisations dedicated to supporting children and young people across the area. Supporting young people is central to the work we do as a Service and plays a vital role in engaging with them and helping to shape their futures.”
Since the launch of the scheme in North Lincolnshire in March 2023, the business community in North Lincolnshire has been active in pledging their support and commitment to children and young people in care. Businesses from education, hospitality and engineering industries are showcasing the importance of being involved in the fostering community; aiding our children, young people and foster carers.
