Residents are being invited to help shape Discover@2021, the free family-friendly attraction opening in Scunthorpe town centre next spring.

Groundbreaking proposals, centred around a showstopping suspended dome, have been revealed for the space, which will fuel children’s imaginations.

Young people will be able to unleash their creativity at a series of fun interactive stations, using their science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics skills to operate giant levers and solve puzzles.

Their creations will then be projected onto the enormous dome and projection surfaces, as they transform their environment in bold, beautiful ways.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This free family-friendly attraction will be a massive boost, not just to families, but to the wider region as well.

“Discover@20-21 is our latest multi-million-pound investment to transform Scunthorpe town centre and will offer a vibrant, welcoming environment for our children and young teens – bringing what they learn in school to life in inventive ways.

“We really want to hear from our young visitors and their families about what hands-on activities they want to see. This is their space, and by working together we can make sure Discover is a fun, inspiring place for all.”

North Lincolnshire Council is working with Yorkshire-based visitor experience designers, The Creative Core, on the plans.

The award-winning designers will create an accessible space that can be enjoyed by as many people as possible.

“I’m excited that we can finally share the amazing concept we’ve been working hard on for Discover@2021 with families. The plans look fantastic and will enable children to express their creativity in a host of ingenious ways.

“We are now at the exciting stage of reaching out to local schools and families to help shape the activities they would like to see in their space.
