Hundreds of residents and businesses in Gunness are eagerly waiting for their online world to be transformed once they become connected to KCOM’s full fibre network.
With the work already underway, over 360 properties in the village of Gunness will reap the benefits of being connected to one of the UK’s fastest broadband networks.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “We are committed to enabling communities to flourish and this latest technology will help towards that.
“A quality broadband network is now an essential part of any community – people rely on fast internet.
“Especially now, with more people working from home, children doing their homework online and older people staying connected with their families, a good broadband connection is vital and that’s why I welcome this investment in North Lincolnshire.
“There will be some disruption while the cables are installed but once the teams have gone, and the paths have been restored, the benefits will be huge.”
The engineering works will enable local businesses to work more efficiently and will provide homes with the ability to stream, surf and download at speeds of up to 1Gbps.
Gunness is the latest village in North Lincolnshire to join the full fibre network revolution and will follow other local towns and villages such as Scawby, Broughton, Goxhill, Barton-Upon-Humber and Brigg whose communities are already connected to ultra-fast broadband.
