To celebrate Foster Care Fortnight™ from 15 to 28 May 2023, North Lincolnshire Council’s Fostering Recruitment Team will be pledging to complete 70,000 steps (the equivalent of around 45 miles) each week of the fortnight for the 70,000 children who are currently in care across the UK.

Foster Care Fortnight is an annual campaign set up by The Fostering Network to raise the profile of fostering and show how foster care transforms lives.

The theme of this year’s Foster Care Fortnight is #FosteringCommunities and as members of our fostering community, everyone is invited to join the team in walking, raising awareness of the need for foster carers in our local area and celebrating the strength and resilience of our community.

People are invited to join the Fostering Recruitment Team and members of the Fostering Friendly Scheme on a Twilight Walk on Friday 26 May.

The walk will begin at Church Square and then head towards the luscious, green open space of Central Park in Scunthorpe. All walkers will be able to enjoy the delightful scenery before heading back to Church Square, where the walk will end. Arrival is from 6.30pm and will include a quick briefing before the walk starts.

A variety of walks will be taking place over the two-week period to raise the awareness of fostering and will showcase some of the spectacularly beautiful, award-winning green spaces and parks in North Lincolnshire.

Could you pledge to complete a mile, or be ambitious and join the team in pledging 70,000 steps each week across the fortnight?
