Free swimming for children is returning to leisure centres across North Lincolnshire this Easter – with the popular Easter Daze programme back for a third year after huge demand from families.

Starting on Friday 3 April and running until Monday 20 April, the special sessions will allow children under 16 to swim for free at pools across the area.

Sessions will take place at leisure centres in Brigg, Crowle, Barton-upon-Humber, The Pods, Riddings and Epworth Swimming Pool, giving families plenty of options during the school holidays.

To make it easy for families to take part:

  • Children aged eight to 16 should book their free session online in advance
  • Younger children can turn up and book at reception with a parent or guardian
  • Special family swim sessions are also available where the whole family can attend for free.

Cllr Carl Sherwood, cabinet member for community wellbeing (rural), said: “Families really welcomed these free sessions over the past two years, so we’re delighted to bring them back again this Easter.

“School holidays can be busy and expensive for parents, so giving children the chance to swim for free is a great way to keep them active, have fun with friends and spend time together as a family.

“Swimming is also an important life skill, and these sessions give children the chance to build confidence in the water in a safe environment with trained lifeguards.”

Parents are also reminded that open water can be extremely dangerous, particularly for children, and that swimming should always take place in safe, supervised environments such as local pools.

Residents can check their local pool timetable for Easter Daze sessions and booking information when they are finalised.

Information on sessions at Epworth Swimming Pool can be found on the Epworth Pool website.
