The fostering team at North Lincolnshire Council are thrilled to have DN Colleges Group signed up to the fostering friendly scheme and are looking forward to building this partnership, supporting and championing fostering in the community.

DN Colleges Group is delighted to pledge to the fostering friendly scheme, making their organisation encompass a fostering friendly environment.

Having worked with the fostering team on various projects previously and supporting their Twilight Walk earlier in the year as part of Foster Care Fortnight, signing up to the fostering friendly scheme was a natural progression in the partnership.

DN Colleges Group have implemented active policies to support employees who foster or who may wish to foster, offering support and flexibility where appropriate and in line with organisational needs.

Rachel Maguire, Chief Operating Officer People & Information at DN Colleges Group, said: “With rising numbers of children accessing the care system, recruiting more foster carers and supporting families who already foster is more important than ever.

“DN Colleges Group are proud to have implemented a Foster Friendly policy which helps us support and recognise the roles of employees who foster.

“Our foster friendly policy offers the flexibility that foster carers need and will hopefully help encourage more people to consider fostering.”

As a college that has been serving the community for over 70-years, North Lindsey, part of DN Colleges Group is home to students completing a range of studies including apprenticeships.

Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children, families, and communities, said: “DN Colleges Group have long supported our children and young people in building their aspirations for the future and I’m excited to see they have become fostering friendly.

“This is another development for our fostering friendly scheme in showcasing a strong social responsibility to all of our children and children in care; highlighting the importance of and need to support our children in care alongside our foster carers who play an inspirational role in each of their lives.

“The scheme in North Lincolnshire is continuing to grow with more local businesses and organisations pledging their support every month with no sign of this slowing down. If you are an employer or know of a business that could be fostering friendly, I encourage you to get in touch with the team and find out what you could do to be fostering friendly.”

This year has seen Kimberley Performing Arts Centre sign up alongside Koku-Ryu Martial Arts, A&K Tyres and Humberside Police pledging their support and championing fostering. Each member offers something different and bespoke to their organisation which may include offering work experience and adaptations to HR policies for foster carers in employment.
