North Lincolnshire Council will publish its five year housing land supply from 1 April to outline how and where the demand for homes in the area will be met.
The housing land supply is made up of sites which already have full planning permission along with those which have outline planning permission, those which are likely to be developed and those sites already allocated for housing which have secured accelerated construction funding or for which pre-application discussions are taking place.
Councils must publish a five year housing land supply position statement each year to show where houses will be built.
In North Lincolnshire, 2,514 houses are identified as being needed across the five years.
The council’s five year housing land supply will be submitted to the Secretary of State Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in April after a consultation with developers has been completed. Once submitted to the Secretary of State it will then be available on the council’s website.
Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The council being able to deliver its five year land supply will be welcome news to many communities where housing has not been formally planned. We are now confident there are enough deliverable sites to meet the demand.
“This is a big step which will help protect many towns and villages across North Lincolnshire which have been subject to unplanned, speculative development.
“The consultation process will now begin with active developers in our area and members of our Strategic Housing Market Partnership in order to ensure we can meet the demand for housing sustainably while protecting those towns and villages where development should not be considered.”
