At the council cabinet meeting on Monday 27 January the cabinet resolved that National Grid should consult extensively with local communities in our area on its plan to build new high-voltage power lines between the Humber and High Marnham, including face to face meetings at every town and village along the proposed route.
There have been two previous rounds of consultation with more detailed plans due to be released in spring this year.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:
“These proposed new power lines would have an adverse and major impact on communities across North Lincolnshire and it is vital that local voices are heard. Lincolnshire has a great number of really high value landscapes and these proposals, if approved, would have an adverse impact and would industrialise the area and will change the look and feel of some of our most beautiful countryside.
“We are seeking to force National Grid to listen to residents by asking them to make it as easy as possible for local residents to take part in extensive and meaningful consultation, including holding in person meetings at every area that will be impacted. Residents tell me every day that they have really strong views on the way in which these proposals will tear through communities, impact on family farms and affect their viability.”
