The bus service between Barton and Immingham has been extended to incorporate South Killingholme, North Killingholme and East Halton.

Service 260 runs Monday to Friday between Barton and Immingham.

Cllr Tim Mitchell, cabinet member for connectivity, said:

“We’ve listened to residents who wanted better scheduled bus services between Barton and Immingham – joining up the smaller villages and improving access to shops and services.

“Bus passenger numbers fell during the pandemic, and we are doing everything possible to increase bus usage including investing in more routes, fare caps, weekend services, better passenger information and improved standards for passengers.

“There really has never been a better time to ‘Take The Bus’.”

This follows on from improvements being made to bus services 96 and 97 that connect residents in the low villages to Barton, Brigg and across the Isle of Axholme. The buses are due to have facelifts to give them a new look and feel, and bus service 97 has been extended to include Haxey and Westwoodside.

The council received more than £1m government cash from the Bus Service Improvement Plan plus funding (BSIP+) for up to 2025 and more recently £965,000 following the government’s announcement of £150m funding to improve bus services for 2024/25 in the Midlands and North of England.
