In response to reports of ongoing anti-social behaviour, the barrier at the Barton upon Humber viewing area Bridge View Park will now be locked each evening to help prevent further disruption.
The decision follows concerns raised by residents and the police, who have reported repeated incidents involving groups of people, cars and motorbikes gathering in the car park late into the night. These activities have caused noise disturbances and increased litter in the surrounding area.
The barrier will now be closed by 8pm or at dusk, whichever is earlier, and reopened at or before 8am each morning.
Cllr Paul Vickers, ward member for Barton upon Humber, said: “We have been made aware of anti-social behaviour affecting the car park and surrounding area during the evenings. The police asked if arrangements could be made for the gate to be closed and reopened in the mornings. A volunteer has been found to take on this role, which I’m thankful for. Hopefully, this action will bring an end to the anti-social behaviour affecting this area.”
The council and police will continue to monitor the situation and take further steps if necessary.
