Young cadets in the Isle of Axholme will soon be standing out at community events, thanks to a new, branded gazebo funded by North Lincolnshire Council.
The RAFAC 300 Isle of Axholme Squadron has received a £1,215 community grant to purchase the gazebo, which will support recruitment and engagement efforts while protecting equipment and volunteers from the elements.
The new gazebo will help raise the squadron’s profile during recruitment drives and community activities, offering a more visible and professional set-up. It will also safeguard valuable equipment and provide shelter for cadets and volunteers at outdoor events.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “We are proud to support community groups like the 300 Squadron that offer such meaningful experiences for young people. This new gazebo will help them be more visible at local events, connect with more residents and encourage more young people to get involved.”
Cllr Ian Bint, ward councillor for Axholme North, added: “This is a fantastic use of the community grant scheme. The 300 Squadron makes a real contribution to our area, and it’s great to see them supported with practical equipment that will benefit their work all year round.”
Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children and families, said: “I’ve had the pleasure of working with the 300 Squadron for a number of years and have seen first-hand the dedication of the team and the positive impact they have on young people. It’s brilliant to see them continuing to grow and succeed, and I’m delighted the council can support them with this new equipment.”
The funding has come from North Lincolnshire Council’s Community Grant Scheme, which backs local groups and projects that help communities thrive. To find out more about the scheme, including how to apply, visit the North Lincolnshire Council website.
