Adult education and community learning services in North Lincolnshire received praise following a recent assessment carried out by Matrix, on behalf of the Department for Education.

In summary, the inspection report said: “The Assessor found a passionate staff team offering wide-ranging support to learners through the services delivered. Resources are appropriate for the service being delivered and are of good quality. Staff are a credit to the service, and learners’ experiences matched the service described”.

The Adult Education and Community Learning Service helps hundreds of people a year learn new skills.
Learners enrol for a variety of reasons, including learning a new hobby, confidence building, social and health reasons and to help children or grandchildren with homework.

These are often the start for those who have been out of learning for some time but want to go on to achieve qualifications to improve their employment prospects.

The service is recognised as having clear leadership and direction. The senior managers are seen as very effective at sharing the strategic direction of the council.

The speed of response to the Covid-19 pandemic was recognised. Learners complimented their tutors and the customer service team for their speed of response, professionalism and caring attitude when providing remote support.
