A magical day for the whole community – Scunthorpe Christmas light switch on

Scunthorpe town centre will come alive with festive fun this November as the community gathers for the 2025 Christmas lights switch on – a magical, family-friendly day filled with music, entertainment, and Christmas cheer.

From the High Street to Church Square, and at venues including St John’s Market, Scunthorpe Central, and 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, families can enjoy a packed programme of free entertainment, roaming performers, live music, and festive food from 9am.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said.: “The Christmas Lights Switch-On is one of the highlights of the year for Scunthorpe, a chance for families, friends and neighbours to come together and celebrate the season.

“This free event brings real festive magic to the town centre and showcases the fantastic community spirit we have here in North Lincolnshire.”

Expect enchanting appearances from Elsa and Belle, Victorian carol singers, The Grinch, and even a roller-skating LED show – all building up to the main stage event at 4pm, where Mrs Christmas, Santa, and the Mayor of North Lincolnshire will join the winner of the local schools’ Christmas card competition to light up the town.

The moment will be made extra special with a snow machine finale and a town-wide singalong.

Main stage schedule:

  • 3.20pm to 3.40pm – Sammi J School of Dance
  • 3.40pm to 4pm – The Rock Choir
  • 4pm to 4.20pm – Mrs Christmas (Singing)
  • 4.20pm to 4.40pm – Little Enchantments with Belle, Elsa and Spiderman
  • 4.40pm to 5pm – Henry (Vocalist)
  • 5pm to 5.10pm – Led Roller Skates
  • 5.10pm to 5.40pm – Back Chat Brass
  • 5.40pm to 5.45pm – LED CYR wheel and Led drummer
  • 5.50pm to 5.55pm – Panto cast
  • 5.55pm to 6pm – Switch on warm up with Christmas Card winners Isaac and Izzy plus the panto cast and Mayor.
  • 6pm – Lights switched on and our snow machine
  • 6pm onwards – A singalong with Mrs Christmas

There’s something for everyone, from crafts and face painting, to a mini Christmas market, funfair rides, and a festive grotto.
