Bottesford and Yaddlethorpe Coffee Shop and Visitor Centre opened its doors today (Friday 15 February 2019).

North Lincolnshire Council invested £350,000 in the centre, located in Bottesford Beck Linear Park, just off Messingham Road.

The centre is home to information boards about the local area and the wildlife that call the Beck home, information about local walking and cycling routes, an Imagination Library book corner for young children and families, and toilet facilities, including an accessible toilet.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:

“It’s fantastic to see Bottesford’s new visitor centre opening its doors. The centre will provide a welcome rest stop for those out exploring the Beck.

“As spring arrives across North Lincolnshire, more and more people will be looking to get out and about to make the most of the nicer weather. As a council, we’re always looking to showcase the natural beauty of our area, and by providing excellent visitor infrastructure, we hope to see more people coming to enjoy Bottesford Beck and the adjoining nature reserve.”

The Arc – a social enterprise which runs a community health and wellbeing hub – will be running the Coffee Shop at the centre for visitors and walkers to enjoy a hot drink and a cake during their walk. Four-legged friends will also be welcome rest their paws.

Janis Carter, Café Manager at The Arc, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for The Arc to get involved in. It’s a great chance for us to expand the service we offer and create more opportunities for volunteers to learn new skills.”

Pupils and teachers from Bottesford Junior School, Bottesford Infant School and Holme Valley Primary School joined the Mayor of North Lincolnshire, Cllr John Briggs; Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, Cllr Rob Waltham; and the Bottesford ward councillors Margaret Armiger, John Davison and Derek Longcake, to officially open the centre on Friday 15 February.

The centre is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 2pm. The centre will be available at other times for school use and for community groups to hire.
