Free swimming sessions are back once again for the school summer holidays in North Lincolnshire.

From Saturday 20 July to Monday 2 September, children aged 16 and under can swim for free during any Summer Daze session at North Lincolnshire leisure centres.

Free swimming will be available at:

  • The Pods, Scunthorpe
  • Ancholme Leisure Centre, Brigg
  • Axholme North Leisure Centre, Crowle
  • Baysgarth Leisure Centre, Barton upon Humber
  • Riddings Pool
  • Epworth Pool

You can find all the Summer Daze sessions online at www.northlincs.gov.uk/swimming.

Free swimming sessions at Epworth Pool can be found on their website at www.epworthpool.co.uk.

Cllr Josh Walshe – the council’s lead member for young people and leisure – is a former employee of The Pods where he used to work as a lifeguard. He welcomed the free swimming, saying:

“Free swimming is always immensely popular during the summer and it’s so promising to see children taking full advantage of the offer, exercising in the pool and enjoying themselves.

“Encouraging children to lead more active lives is such a key priority for the council, to help tackle health problems and give children the best start in life. I’m hoping as many children make the most of free swimming this summer right across North Lincolnshire.”

Cllr Carl Sherwood, cabinet member responsible for wellbeing, added:

“As well as helping young people have healthier lifestyles, swimming is an essential live skill that can save lives. During hot weather, many people are drawn to water, so by providing free swimming we’re letting children cool off in a safe environment.”

For children’s safety, swimming supervision ratios apply and during Summer Daze Family sessions, an adult must accompany each child in the pool.
