Poppy Fields Nursery at West Street Children’s Centre has benefited from £210,000 investment by North Lincolnshire Council, to meet anticipated demand for 30 hours funded childcare for working parents.

The extension, which increases the number of places available at the nursery to 40, includes new outdoor space and was completed by local construction company, GS Kelsey Ltd.

Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, Cllr Rob Waltham MBE, officially opened it on 22 January. He said:

“I welcome the Government’s commitment to support working families through funded childcare, and this expansion at Poppy Fields Nursery does just that.

“By accessing up to 30 hours funded childcare per week, parents have their opportunity to increase their working hours or get back into work.”

Cllr David Rose, Cabinet Member for Children, Families, Learning and Leisure said,

“This fantastic new extension at Poppy Fields Nursery will benefit children and parents alike. The children can enjoy learning through play in a modern, spacious environment, both indoors and outdoors.
