Is your child starting primary school in September this year?

Families can prepare for this monumental event together at this year’s community event that is taking place on Saturday 11 May between 10am and 3pm at Scunthorpe Central on Carlton Street.

Children that are set to start in a reception class in a school or academy in September, along with their families, are invited to attend a fun event that can help them prepare for the big transition.

The annual event is designed to share key information and top tips with parents and carers to ensure they feel supported and have the information, skills, and knowledge they need for a successful transition to school.

The day provides the perfect opportunity to provide a wide range of support and advice to families all in one place. A range of professionals including teachers, health visitors, the imagination library team, Communication counts team and family hubs, will be available to talk to and provide information about life in school, school meals, healthy eating, and before and after school care. A video about the event is available on our YouTube channel.

Feedback from families who attended previous events was overwhelmingly positive, including 100% of attendees saying they would recommend this event to other families. Families felt more prepared and informed about what to expect and developed a deeper knowledge of how they could proactively support their child’s transition to start primary school.
