Summary narrative

Frodingham Children’s Centre is located in Scunthorpe South locality with the catchment including parts of Frodingham and Kingsway with Lincoln Gardens wards.

An estimated 295 under 5s live in this catchment area which represents just over 3% of all under 5s in North Lincolnshire making it the smallest catchment population in North Lincolnshire; two fifths of resident women are of child bearing age.

In the adult population, male and female life expectancy is broadly in line with the local average.

This area has statistically higher than average levels of child poverty with half of under 5s living in England’s 30% most deprived neighbourhoods, a third of under 16s living relative low income and rising, a third eligible for free school meals and one in seven households with children claiming Universal Credit; claims for DLA are the highest in North Lincolnshire.

Over a quarter of births are to women with a minority ethnic background along with nearly a fifth to mothers born outside of the UK.
