Summary narrative

Barton Rural Children’s Centre is located in Barton and District locality with the catchment being coterminous with Barton and Ferry wards.

Barton catchment has the largest number of residents with an estimated 1040 under 5s which represents 12% of all under 5s in North Lincolnshire; nearly a third (30%) of women are of child bearing age and mothers born outside of the UK are very low in number.

The population is generally healthy with both male and female life expectancy similar to both the local and national averages.

This area has a few pockets of child poverty with a quarter of under 5s residing in England’s 30% most deprived neighbourhoods; about a fifth of u16s either live in relative low income or are eligible for free school meals.
