Our team and what we do
The Strategic Development Team have four areas of focus within Adult Social Care – Executive Support, Performance and Intelligence, Strategy and Policy, and People’s Voice and Workforce Development. We organise, implement, develop, communicate, update, analyse and review the Adult Social Care offer and Integrated Strategies, Plans, Policies, Performance, Processes, Practice Guidance, Inspections and Events.

Roles/areas with Strategic Development team
- Executive Support – Facilitates and delivers comprehensive range of support services to senior executives
- Performance and Intelligence – Monitor, analyse and present Adult Social Care data, statistics and management information for statutory return, local data requirements and reporting. Validating and cleansing information and ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Strategy and Policy – Develops and maintains a strong and effective risk management and assurance framework across the portfolio area. Responsible for the policy development and implementation across Adults and Health in line with legislative requirements
- People’s Voice – Working with people with lived experience of Adult Social Care to ensure their voice informs strategic development and facilitate contributions by providers, partners and those who are involved with or have a view about the services North Lincolnshire Council provides to adults
- Workforce Development – Offers training and development opportunities to the Adult Social Care workforce to maximise success and career pathways

Describe a typical day in the life of the whole team
- Executive Support – Co-ordinating and circulating meeting information, compiling agenda’s, producing accurate minutes. Diary, email and telephone management for the Senior Leadership Team
- Performance and Intelligence – Collating data from multiple sources, assessing the quality, accuracy and validity. Manipulating data to analyse and present the information to colleagues. Forecasting and analysing data trends. Completing statutory returns
- Strategy and Policy – Refreshing and updating policies in line with latest government guidance, monitoring document review dates and communicating policy and procedure guidance to AD’s/HOS/LO’s
- People’s Voice – Meeting with expert groups, engaging and supporting citizens to capture information about the quality of services. Organising and taking part in cross sector surveys that are required for government returns, quality assurance and benchmarking. Devising mechanisms for the collection of quality data with the public and other stakeholders
- Workforce Development – Identifying, advertising, designing, delivering and facilitating training to the Adults and Health workforce. Researching and implementing best practice initiatives in line with latest Adult Social Care Policies and Government Guidelines
Describe a typical day of a job in your team
- Monitor and respond to emails within team and personal inbox
- Check for latest government updates for guidance and communicate with workforce as appropriate
- Download and analyse statistical data relating to the Adults and Health SharePoint site
- Monitor Inspection, Policy and Procedure guidance via document tracker and send reminders for documents that are due for review
- Minute subgroup meeting, type up draft minutes and update Action Logs and Work Plans
- Arrange and attend meetings in relation to service review
- Arrange and attend meetings in relation to Self-Evaluation Refresh
- Attend Task and Finish Group for Celebration event planning
What qualities does your team look for in someone wanting to pursue a career in this area?
- Experience of operational and business support systems, practices and procedures
- Knowledge of Adult Social Care objectives, priorities and legislation including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
- Ability to interpret and present complex information regarding planning, business support and performance to a range of different audiences
- Developed communication skills and the ability to build, maintain, negotiate and influence within working relationships
- High level of IT skills and experience in specialist bespoke applications
- Knowledge, skills and experience of Data Protection, Freedom of Information, Caldicott Principles and organisation confidentiality guidelines
- Good Organisation and problem-solving skills
- Experience of working with people who use our services and those with lived experience
What advice would you give someone just getting started?
Ensure:
- Familiarisation of key documents including Adult Social Care policies and legislation and wider council policies
- Awareness of current Adult Social Care challenges
- Political awareness
