The council’s clampdown on litter and flytipping continues with strong action taken against people who selfishly dump their rubbish.

Between June and September 2024, envirocrime enforcement officers took decisive action against four residents in the Crosby & Park area who were caught separately dumping waste in alleyways and behind properties.

In each case, evidence was captured on CCTV and officers conducted interviews under caution at the offenders’ homes.

All four admitted to the offences, and the council issued Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) ranging from £100 to £200, all of which were paid in full.

In July, officers on patrol found waste dumped in an alleyway. A resident was interviewed and admitted littering. A £200 FPN for a littering offence was issued and paid in full.

In September, patrol officers saw a resident dump waste in an alleyway in Crosby & Park. They issued a £100 FPN for breach of a public space protection order, which was paid in full.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Fly-tipping and littering are selfish acts that blight our communities, harm the environment, and cost taxpayers’ money.

“They are also a slap in the face to the many hundreds of people who have pride in their community and give up their time to pick up someone else’s rubbish.

“There is absolutely no excuse for dumping waste illegally when there are so many proper ways to dispose of it. We will continue to use CCTV, patrols, and enforcement action to protect our streets and ensure they are a clean, safe, and welcoming place for everyone.”
