Entries are now open for Challenge 10,000, the North Lincolnshire annual workplace step challenge that takes place each October to help improve health and wellbeing.

The challenge starts on Monday 30 September at midnight and ends on 31 October at midnight.

Now in its third year, Challenge 10,000 aims to encourage people to walk up to 10,000 steps a day as a means to help improve health and wellbeing, with businesses and employees from across North Lincolnshire all invited to take part.

To take part all you have to do is get into a team of four (with your colleagues from same organisation) and individually aim to walk 10,000 steps daily (or more), or to increase your daily step count as much as possible during October.

All money raised throughout the challenge will be donated to Lindsey Lodge Hospice. Last year over £2,200 was raised for the charity.

Would you like to take on the challenge this year? Once you have a team together, nominate your team captain and have them email kelly.crow@northlincs.gov.uk for an application pack. Hurry, there are only places for 100 teams so make sure you don’t miss out.

The deadline for entries is Thursday 26 September 2019.

There will be prizes and rewards up for grabs at the end of the challenge, so put your best foot forward and up your step count during October.

Last year, 98 teams of four took part from across organisations in North Lincolnshire including the council, British Steel, North Lindsey College, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust, plus many schools and other local businesses. Throughout the month, the teams walked an amazing 69,333 miles together.

The council aims to build on last year’s success working with local businesses as part of its Wellbeing at Work initiative.
