North Lincolnshire Council has unveiled a £2.3 million support package to help older and vulnerable residents tackle the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
The Household Support Fund will deliver targeted help over the next 10 months, with a strong focus on pensioners and families in need.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:
“We know times remain tough, especially for older residents and those on fixed incomes. This package is about easing the pressure whether that’s through lower energy bills or helping people get online to find better deals.”
This wide-ranging package is about more than just support—it’s about building resilience and empowering people to help themselves. It’s also a fair and focused effort to reach pensioners and families in North Lincolnshire who haven’t yet benefited from previous rounds of funding.
From helping older people to get online safely – to being able to cook healthily and stay warm, to a helping hand for families and other vulnerable people in crisis with the cost of living.
This package is also aimed at providing lifelong skills so that people can better manage their lives – for example, the welfare support will include debt counselling or help with addictions.
“This support package builds on our wider work to help people live well, safely and independently,” said Cllr Tim Mitchell, cabinet member for sustainability and transformation. He continued: “From free bus passes and green badges to housing and council tax support, we’re delivering the right help at the right time.”
