New two-bed apartments for rent giving people with dementia and their carers the chance to live independent lives are being snapped up by local people but some are still available.

Myos House is currently under construction and will open in August. People are being asked to get in touch quickly if they are interested in renting one of the new properties.

People who have already registered an interest and are waiting to be assessed will be at the front of the queue for the apartments.

The two-bed apartments will enable individuals, couples and family members to remain living together even when care is required.

The scheme is designed to be dementia friendly providing an environment that will enable people to move freely inside and out and at the same time being safe and secure.

Careful consideration has been given to design features such as colour, maximising daylight, and landscaped gardens. Activities will be facilitated on-site including exercises, sensory activities and get-togethers to encourage social inclusion and support to carers.

Residents will also benefit from current up to date assistive technology, CCTV and video door entry systems. This is the only scheme of its type in the area.
