Local community groups, sports clubs and charities recently celebrated after reaching an incredible milestone by collectively raising more than £300,000 thanks to players of Lincs Lotto.
Launched in 2017, Lincs Lotto is a community lottery which was developed to enable community groups to access vital funding. It supports North Lincolnshire Council’s priorities of growing the economy, keeping people safe and well and enabling communities to flourish.
Sixty pence from each £1 ticket goes towards local good causes across North Lincolnshire.
Earlier this month, representatives from a few of the good causes joined the leader of North Lincolnshire Council and the Mayor to celebrate at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council said: “£300,000 is a huge amount of funding that has been raised by Lincs Lotto players and is a milestone to be celebrated.
“For lots of good causes, every bit of funding can be life-changing – what is great about Lincs Lotto is the money which goes a variety of local charities, clubs, and groups across the county, so the more residents play, the more local community groups will benefit, which is fantastic.
“Funding from Lincs Lotto is one of the ways we can enable groups to deliver projects that contribute to improving outcomes for the residents of North Lincolnshire.”
The community lottery recently celebrated its sixth birthday and currently has 149 local good causes participating in the scheme.
Ian Pringle, Chair of Burton Stather Village Hall Committee – one of the good causes benefiting from Lincs Lotto funds – said: “I attended the event celebrating the six years of success for the popular Lincs Lotto Scheme.
“It was good to learn more about this initiative and meet people from other local organisations who also have benefited from it.
“It gave us an opportunity to thank North Lincolnshire Council for their hard work and ask that people continue to support Lincs Lotto.”
Tickets for Lincs Lotto can be bought online, with players in with a chance of winning a cash prize of between £25 and £25,000 each week.
As well as the usual £25,000 jackpot, on Saturday 23 December 2023, players could win a £3,000 pre-paid Mastercard, courtesy of North Lincolnshire Council’s external lottery manager Gatherwell.
