Mayor of North Lincolnshire Cllr John Briggs has laid a simple wreath of white flowers at the base of a copper beech tree in Central Park, Scunthorpe.
The tree, located near the Queensway roundabout side of the park, was planted by the Queen during a Royal Visit to Scunthorpe on June 27, 1958.
Members of the public can place their own floral tributes there.
Books of Condolence are also available in Community Hubs and libraries across North Lincolnshire.
