It’s important that we look after ourselves and those around us, especially during challenging times.

Five ways to Wellbeing is a way of looking after our physical health and mental wellbeing at a time when many of the things we enjoy doing cannot be done in the same way.

North Lincolnshire Council have some great suggestions on how we can all take time to do things that are good for our mental wellbeing, whilst staying at home.  They can be found on the council’s Five Ways to Wellbeing webpage.

You may have heard of them before, or you may find that you do them without realising – the Five Ways to Wellbeing are:

  1. Keep learning

You could get creative with things you have in your cupboards or do something as simple as taking time to complete a crossword.  There are lots of ideas on the council’s things to do website such as photography and virtual museum tours.

  1. Connect

Make an extra effort to stay in touch with family and friends by using technology to make video calls or simply pick up the phone for a chat.

  1. Give

Give something back and do one thing for a neighbour or family member, the council have launched a volunteering page on their website where you can find lots of local opportunities to help other people.

  1. Be active

Getting active is proven to support our wellbeing.  Walking, cycling and running get your body moving, there are also lots of resources to help you get active in your own home such as online yoga and dance workouts.

  1. Take notice

Some of the support we rely on may have changed and it’s important we take notice of our wellbeing to make sure we stay well – there is still support available to people who need it.
