North Lincolnshire is once again taking part in the Great British Spring Clean between 25 March and 10 April and Litter Heroes are being called on to take part.

North Lincolnshire Council is backing the UK’s largest mass-action environmental campaign again this year to encourage people to get outdoors, get active and help clear up rubbish blighting our area.

In recent years outdoor spaces and places have mattered more than ever, and the council supports many local litter-picking groups who are working hard to make the local environment cleaner and greener.

Local people, community groups, charities, clubs, businesses and town and parish councils in North Lincolnshire are being called on to join the growing army of Litter Heroes who have had enough of other people’s rubbish and want to help take action against it.

Last year around 1,000 bags of rubbish were collected in North Lincolnshire during the Great British Spring Clean.

Taking part in the Great British Spring Clean is not only good for the environment, but for mental and physical health too.

If you would like to get involved in the big clean up, call 01724 297000 or email neighbourhoodservices@northlincs.gov.uk. The council can offer support including providing litter picking equipment and removing the rubbish you collect.

To join the litter heroes for this year’s Great British Spring Clean, register on the Keep Britain Tidy website. This will ensure that all clean-ups in North Lincolnshire are recognised and are shown on the map along with others taking place up and down the country. You will also be able to download a guide and get advice and tips.

The message this year is simple. Join the #BigBagChallenge and pledge to pick up as much litter as you can during the campaign.

Share your litter picks using the hashtag #BigBagChallenge.
