As part of North Lincolnshire Council’s effort to improve road safety, the zebra crossing on Ashby High Street near Victoria Road is to be revamped. The crossing will make it safer for children and older people who live in the area to use the popular high street.
The improvements include the construction of a buildout on the southern side of the existing zebra crossing and the installation of a bolt-down buildout.
Work is scheduled to commence on Monday 10 March and is expected to take two weeks to complete. The second week of the project, beginning Monday, 17 March, will include a five-day road closure from 6pm to 11pm for resurfacing work.
Cllr Tim Mitchell, cabinet member for connectivity said: “We have seen several accidents close to the Zebra crossing on Ashby Road and our plans will make the road safer for pedestrians, vehicles and cyclists.
“We will only be closing the road overnight to minimise any disruption.”
