The election held on Thursday 2 May 2024 for the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner is complete and the results are in:
Jonathan Evison (Conservative – More Police, Safer Streets) – 51,083
Simon O’Rourke (Labour and Co-operative Party) – 46,846
Bob Morgan (Liberal Democrats) – 30,834
Jonathan Evison is duly elected.
The Humberside police area includes four local council areas: North Lincolnshire; North East Lincolnshire; Hull City Council; East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
North Lincolnshire voted as follows:
Conservative – 11,124
Labour – 8,623
Liberal Democrat – 1,938
The role of the Police and Crime Commissioner is to oversee local police to ensure they meet community needs.
They handle policing strategies, budgets, council tax for police, public information on police activities, and appoint/dismiss chief constables.
