North Lincolnshire Council is working hard to protect the local economy.

The council received more than £30m from the government last week and it is already appearing in businesses bank accounts.

£1.5m in grant funding has already been distributed, providing a vital lifeline to local businesses, with this expected to increase to more than £6m by 3 April.

The support measures, announced by The Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak last week, are targeted specifically at small businesses, and include both Small Business Grants and Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Grants. These are being administered by North Lincolnshire Council.

The council has received more than 2,000 enquiries about the support available to businesses since 18 March. Staff have worked quickly to process the queries and ensure that funds reach businesses as soon as possible.

The impact of the funding has already been felt across the business community, with many business owners placing on record their thanks to the council for the rapid response.

One business owner said:

“It is a very stressful time for everyone, including business owners…with everybody under considerable pressure.

“The time in which this has been turned around is greatly appreciated…this will and has made a huge difference to myself and my business.”
