North Lincolnshire Council is holding an online training course, ‘Introduction to Working within the Early Years Foundation Stage’, to help people prepare to work with children aged from birth up to five years old.

The course will start on Wednesday 29 July and will take place across 12 sessions over seven weeks. The sessions are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

It costs £60 for the course or £10 per session.

The training is ideal for:

  • Practitioners who are new to working within an early years provision such as a day nursery, pre-school or within a school nursery or reception class who do not have formal early years training or would like a refresher of the current Early Years Foundation Stage requirements.
  • People wishing to register as professional childminders for children within the early years age range.

As part of the course, potential childminders will receive a copy of recommended document templates that they can use within their childminding business and support prior to their Ofsted registration interview.

The course will cover topics including safeguarding, health and safety and risk assessment, play, learning and development, observation, assessment and planning, understanding behaviour, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and equality, diversity and inclusion.  Potential childminders will also access a session on the HMRC requirements for running a business.

There are no written tasks to complete and no exams, however learners will receive a certificate at the end.
