A new local Covid-19 testing site has gone live in North Lincolnshire – increasing capacity and reducing travel time for people needing to get a test.

The new site is located in the Pods overflow car park off Ashby Road in Scunthorpe. The site has been chosen as it is close to the town centre and colleges and is also convenient for the majority of the people of Scunthorpe to travel to.

Appleby Frodingham Sports and Social Club have kindly allowed the site to be set on its land.

The site will be open 8am to 8pm seven days a week. Advance booking is essential through the national booking portal on the Government website or by calling 119.

Jilla Burgess-Allen, senior consultant in public health, said:

“Testing is a key weapon in the fight against the spread of Covid-19. Anyone who has symptoms, however mild, should get tested as soon as possible.

“If you get symptoms you should start self-isolating immediately and book a test – people should not be waiting to get their results before isolating. The tests are quick, simple and painless.

“People should also continue to wash hands regularly, keep social distancing and wear a face covering. It is the combination of these measures together that is most effective in stopping the spread of the virus.”
