Council leader Rob Waltham led a North Lincolnshire delegation with political leaders in Shijiazhuang – the capital region of China’s Hebai Province.
Cllr Waltham’s visit is part of ongoing efforts to build stronger international relationships and create new economic opportunities for North Lincolnshire residents. The cost of the visit is grant funded.
The city is the home of Jingye Group, the owners of British Steel, the largest industrial employer in North Lincolnshire.
The discussions further strengthened links between the two regions with the visit focussing on developing new areas of collaboration for both North Lincolnshire and Shijiazhuang and are designed to enhance job creation, create new investment opportunities, and improve prosperity for local communities.
Cllr Waltham said: “It has been a privilege to meet with the people we have – the discussions have been rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and a desire to build a more prosperous future for residents.
“By working together, we can bring greater economic benefits to North Lincolnshire, which will directly support local businesses and create more, well-paid, sustainable jobs – strengthening these relationships is key to ensuring long-term success for both regions.”
This visit was a critical step in the council’s ongoing efforts to secure partnerships to drive investment and growth in North Lincolnshire, benefiting both the local economy and communities.
