Today is national Thank a Teacher Day, a day of celebration and thanks to teachers and school staff for all their support over the last year.
Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children and families, said:
“Teachers and school staff have been fantastic over the last year. They have found innovative ways of remote teaching and keeping in touch with their pupils, ensuring they continue to learn and flourish.
“Teachers have not only taught our children but helped keep them safe and settle back into school successfully.
“We support Thank a Teacher day, and I would like to say a special thank you to all school staff for being amazing and doing the best for our children.
Families have been encouraged to send a teacher a free thank you card and be entered into #HowWillYouSayThankYou competition.
If you have not said thank you yet, there’s still time. The competition closes at Midnight on 23 June 2021.
For more information and to send your teacher a card, visit the Thank a Teacher website.
