More buses will run on evenings and weekends to improve access to health facilities, leisure centres and shopping facilities for residents in Kirton-in-Lindsey.

From 2 April 2024, bus service 103 will run on evenings, Monday to Saturday at 6pm and return at 6.30pm, and Friday and Saturday between 7.10pm and 10.25pm.

Cllr Tim Mitchell, cabinet member for connectivity, said:

“We are committed to improving public transport in North Lincolnshire to help residents travel around easier, whether that is for work or leisure. It is hoped these improvements to the 103 bus service will help combat rural isolation and increase rural mobility for Kirton-in-Lindsey residents and nearby communities.

“The government cash that has been allocated to improve connectivity across North Lincolnshire is already being put to good use as many improvements have been made.

“It is vital that we provide the best transport options for our communities, ensuring people can access services at times that best serve their needs and we are continuing to roll out even more improvements including, more routes, fare caps, weekend services, better passenger information and improved standards, to give passengers the best possible experience.”

“There really has never been a better time to ‘Take The Bus’.”

The council received more than £1m government cash from the Bus Service Improvement Plan plus funding (BSIP+) for up to 2025 and more recently £965,000 following the government’s announcement of £150m funding to improve bus services for 2024/25 in the Midlands and North of England.
