The fostering team at North Lincolnshire Council are excited that Aeroschool is the latest to pledge their support to the fostering friendly scheme and are looking forward to building this partnership.
The team at Aeroschool Flight Academy are hoping to not only support young people in flying towards their dreams but aiding in raising awareness of fostering in the community.
Having already worked with the fostering team earlier this year, they felt it was the logical next step to sign up to the scheme and announce their support.
Cllr Richard Hannigan, cabinet member for adults & health as well as a flight teacher at the academy, said: “Most people do not appreciate that there are many career opportunities in aviation and that these are accessible to all.
“At Aeroschool, we focus on flight training both for leisure and as a first step on the ladder to becoming a professional pilot. We want all young people to have the opportunity to consider a career in aviation and we believe the best way to inspire them is to take them flying!
“Being Fostering Friendly is what you want to make it. You can support your employees to flourish as foster parents or, like us, you can provide opportunities for foster children to learn about careers they may never have heard of.
“In North Lincolnshire we value all our children, and you can help give them a great start in life by being fostering friendly.”
The flight academy is going to be working with the fostering team on opportunities for young people in care as well as raising awareness via their social media platforms and sharing resources for people to find out more about fostering.
Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children, families, and communities, said: “Having Aeroschool Flight Academy pledge their support for our children, young people and foster carers is a further development for our fostering friendly scheme that I’m excited to see.
“Championing our children and raising their aspirations for the future is at the forefront of what we do and I’m incredibly proud to see our fostering friendly scheme building and having such an impact on our young people in North Lincolnshire.
“If you are an employer or know of a business that could be fostering friendly, I encourage you to get in touch with the team and find out what you could do to be fostering friendly.”
This year has seen the fostering friendly scheme in North Lincolnshire continue to grow with a range of members impacting the lives of foster carers and young people in care by providing work experience days, donations of prizes for events and adaptations to HR policies for foster carers in their employment.
Organisations involved include The Ropewalk, DN Colleges Group, John Leggott College, The Winterton Federation, Rands Solicitors, Know Film, Oatridge Coaching, The Iron Foundation, Jerry Green Dog Rescue, Kimberley Performing Arts Centre, Train Talent, Business Hive and Humberside Police pledging their support and championing fostering.
