Scunthorpe’s newest family attraction has proved an instant hit – with almost 5,000 visitors stepping inside Discover@20-21 since it opened just a few weeks ago.
The new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) interactive gallery at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre has quickly become a favourite for families looking for something fun, free and full of creativity.
Inside, children have been building glowing landscapes, solving circuit mazes, and creating dazzling digital artworks projected onto the chancel window.
Outside, families have been intrigued by optical illusions and perspective tricks that make science feel like magic.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “The response has been fantastic. It’s great to see so many families enjoying the space – it’s colourful, exciting and completely unique. This Christmas, it’s the perfect place to visit, play and be inspired.”
Cllr John Davison, cabinet member for safer, stronger communities (urban), added: “Thousands of people have already discovered how brilliant this new centre is – but there’s still so much more to explore. If you haven’t been yet, make sure you do this Christmas. It’s free, it’s fun, and it’s right in the heart of Scunthorpe.”
Visitors can also take advantage of free parking – two hours Monday to Friday and all day at weekends – in Scunthorpe town centre, making a trip to even easier for families.
Discover@20-21 is open Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am to 4pm, all the way up to Christmas Eve – find it in Queen Elizabeth Memorial Gardens in Church Square – and see the new Christmas tree lit up at almost 30ft tall.
Whether you’re looking for a family day out, somewhere to escape the weather, or a chance to spark young imaginations – make sure you discover it for yourself this Christmas.
