Briefing session for candidates, agents and town and parish clerks
In preparation for the May 2019 local elections, a briefing for candidates, agents and town and parish council clerks involved in the local and/or town and parish elections on 2 May 2019 has been arranged at 4pm on Wednesday 20 February 2019 at the Civic Centre, Scunthorpe (Council Chamber).
The briefing is being introduced by Denise Hyde, Returning Officer, and information will be presented by other key Election and Legal and Democratic officers.
The briefing will cover the timetable, arrangements and key processes for the elections and there will also be a question and answer session at the end.
Nomination packs for the North Lincolnshire Local and Town and Parish Council elections are now available. Please contact the Elections Team on 01724 296245. Hard copies of the packs will also be available at the briefing.
The nomination period will open on 27 March 2019, following the publication of the notice of election, and will close at 4pm prompt on 3 April 2019. The nomination period is the time when nomination forms can be checked and handed in.
All information required for candidates and agents is available through the Electoral Commission’s website, which I would encourage all those involved to read. The range of ‘guide for candidates’ publications are available on the Electoral Commission website. They are an extremely useful source of guidance and advice.
The guides cover the following areas for example:
- Can you stand for election?
- Standing as an independent candidate
- Standing as a party candidate
- Spending and donations
- The campaign
- Your right to attend key electoral events
- After the declaration of results
Monday to Thursday: 9am to 5pm
