The yearly Make Your Mark (MYM) ballot is taking place until 9 October 2019 for young people to have their say on what is discussed at the next UK Youth Parliament.

Make Your Mark – the largest consultation of young people in the country – asks young people what issues matter most to them in order to determine what is debated.

The next UK Youth Parliament will take place in the House of Commons in November 2019.

Voting will take place in schools, colleges and youth centres across North Lincolnshire.

Ten topics are available to choose from on the initial ballot paper, with the top two UK-wide topics and the top three devolved topics being discussed at the debate (subject to approval in the new Parliament).

This year a space has been added to the ballot paper that allows young people to include a local issue that they feel is of importance.

Last year’s Make Your Mark ballot saw 1.1 million young people taking part making in the consultation.

The Make Your Mark campaign is the cornerstone of youth democracy and young people are encouraged to cast their ballot and have their voice heard.

Cllr Elaine Marper, cabinet member for resident’s engagement and governance, said:

“The Make Your Mark ballot gives young people in North Lincolnshire the opportunity to have their say on issues that matter to them. I’d encourage all young people to get involved in the consultation to ensure their views are heard. It is fantastic that this year young people can share an issue that affects their local area.

“It is important that young people’s voices are heard and they have an input as our next generation.”
