Construction work to transform Sawcliffe Industrial Estate in Scunthorpe has started.

North Lincolnshire Council is working in partnership with Evergreen Group UK to develop the 8.5 acre site. It will open up new business opportunities by creating commercial space that is affordable and functional.

Planning approval had previously been given for phase one of the project to provide eight business units varying in size from 800 to 2,000 sq ft, complete with a secure yard.

The units will have fully insulated walls and roof, power floated concrete flooring, disabled toilets and large roller shutters. Each unit will be tailor made to meet the needs of businesses.

Sean Tucker, Director of Evergreen Group UK, said:

“We chose North Lincolnshire as a place to invest because of its commercial heritage, its location and most importantly its people.

“The willingness of North Lincolnshire Council’s Economic Growth Team to help and promote the area, from the initial first visits to beginning the joint venture journey, has been outstanding. There have been many obstacles along the way that we have worked together to remove. None of this would have happened without the collaboration, communication and understanding from all sides.

“We are a family run business with family values, and together we want to help grow sustainable new business in North Lincolnshire.”

A range of funding options, including grants are available to existing and new business in the North Lincolnshire area.

Businesses interested in taking up a unit on Sawcliffe Industrial Estate should contact the Economic Growth team on 01724 297000.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said:

“A major development like this will help grow our economy in North Lincolnshire by providing job opportunities and a place for businesses to invest.

“Preparation work has started on site ready for building work to get underway. We have already received interest from one business to take up one of the units and plans are being drawn up. It is an exciting opportunity for existing and new businesses in North Lincolnshire to enable them to flourish and prosper.

“Businesses will be able to have input on the size of the unit and how it is fitted out, ensuring it meets their individual needs.”
