Shopmobility

Information about Shopmobility and how to book scooters and wheelchairs if you have a mobility problem.

To help keep residents and visitors on the move, we operate a Shopmobility scheme in Scunthorpe. After joining us as a member, anyone with a mobility problem can hire a wheelchair or mobility scooter for free, although donations are very welcome.

Mobility scooters and wheelchairs are available for day use. Wheelchairs are also available for weekly (£10) and monthly (£30) hire.

Shopmobility wheelchairs are also available at Ashby, Brigg and Crowle Community Hubs for day use during their working hours. Contact the relevant Hub for details.

The pre-booking of scooters and wheelchairs is highly recommended. Please call Shopmobility on 01724 297000 (option 5, then option 5 again) to book your vehicle.

For bus pass applications, please contact Shopmobility as above. Booking is recommended.

All applicants must visit Shopmobility to register for the service and to complete an assessment before they are allowed to use the equipment.

Assessments are carried out by appointment between Monday and Thursday. No one is allowed out for the first time on a Friday or Saturday as the town centre is usually busy.

Shopmobility is located on the ground floor of The Parishes multi-storey car park on Fenton Street, Scunthorpe, DN15 6QX. Two hours of free parking is available and parking is free after 2pm. Blue badge holders may park for free at all times.

There is a maximum weight limit of 25 stone for use of the scooters and 16 stone for wheelchairs. Most of the scooters have a weight limit lower than 25 stone.

Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3.30pm
Saturday: 9am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3.30pm

Scooter/wheelchair hire times

Monday to Friday: 9am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3pm
Saturday: 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3pm

Bus pass application times

Monday to Friday: 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm
Saturday: 9.30am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm

Appointments are advisable for the hiring of scooters/wheelchairs and bus pass applications.
